GST / VAT component—
Applied rate—
Calculation mode—
Add GST: Gross = Net × (1 + Rate/100). Remove GST: Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate/100).
How this calculator works
Calculates gross price inclusive of sales tax or net price exclusive of tax based on user-entered transaction amount and tax percentage.
Formula
Add Tax: Gross Amount = Net Amount × (1 + Tax Rate %); Remove Tax: Net Amount = Gross Amount / (1 + Tax Rate %)
Worked Example
$500 net price with 18% VAT: Adding Tax produces $590 gross ($90 tax). Removing 18% Tax from $500 gross produces $423.73 net ($76.27 tax).
Assumptions
- Tax rate applies uniformly to the net or gross transaction value.
- No multi-tiered or differential tax rates apply to the item.
Limitations
- Excludes reduced tax rates, zero-rated exports, customs tariffs, and local tax exemptions.
